The Logan County Little League is enjoying a much-improved ballfield this year thanks in large part to the Logan County fiscal court. The magistrates and judge executive approved a proposal to give the league $35,000 last year in order to do some much-needed upgrades to Caleb Slaton Field in Memorial Park. Boyd pleads guilty in Olmstead cruelty case
Sammy “Dale” Boyd entered a guilty plea on Thursday, May 16 on 26 counts of cruelty to animals, second degree. The case stemmed from 26 dogs taken from the Olmstead home of Boyd and his girlfriend Leslie Johnson two months ago. Boyd received 12 months jail (30 days to serve) and a $300 reimbursement to the Logan County Humane Society. Conditions of probation include no illegal activity and a prohibition against owning dogs. Historic bridge to be taken down
It looks as if the old historic bridge on Logan Mill Road will be coming down. Magistrates voted Tuesday to allow the state to move forward in building a $1.36 million bridge to replace the medal scaffold bridge that was built in 1945 over the Red River in south Logan County.
