Active Day to hold St. Patrick’s Day Dance
by Chris Cooper
Managing Editor

Active Day of Russeville will be hosting its first annual St. Patrick’s Day Dance March 15 from 5-8 p.m. at their new location on 3239 Lewisburg Road.

This exciting event, held for those who have special needs, will be open to the public offering an opportunity for Logan Countians to get out and have some fun.

Active Day of Russellville came to the community 11 years ago, providing a safe, home-like environment for more than 35 clients with mental and physical disabilities. Active Day receives a customized care program that includes therapeutic activities, daily nutrition, socialization and health services that improve quality of life.

The facility moved from it’s former location at 767 North Main Street in Russellville to a new location Jan. 27, 2012.

This is also a way for the public to come and see what the center is all about, said director Tammy Dauley, who has been with the center for 10 years and says it has been an amazing journey.

Active Day of Russellville allows those with special needs to get out of their homes and become part of a family during the daytime while giving them numerous opportunities for socialization, as well as meeting their basic needs.

Dauley said hosting the dance came about after some at the center mentioned a similar dance that is held in Bowling Green sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

“Several of our clients have attended the dance in Bowling Green and have had a great time. They asked why we couldn’t do the same. I thought why not,” said Dauley. “This dance will give the community a chance to visit our new building and give those who do not always have the opportunity, to get out and do something fun,” said Dauley.

Active Day of Russellville holds several events throughout the year for their patrons, this is something that the public can now join in on.

Clay Bilyeu will be providing the entertainment for the evening. There will be light refreshments served and remember to wear green. The event is casual. For more information, call 726-2100.

Active Day provides numerous activities for residents and employs a dedicated, trained and knowledgeable staff. Dauley says she couldn’t’ do her job without all the wonderful people she works with to help make the center a comfortable and homey environment.
