The Logan County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank and congratulate its 2012-2013 Class of Leadership Logan.

Over 250 people have participated in Leadership Logan since it first began in 1991, says Lisa Browning, Executive Director of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce. “Each class conducts an alumni project and thanks to these projects, many non-profit and educational programs have benefited with donated labor and funds.” Well over $20,000 has been raised by alumni for worthy projects/organizations, such as Adult Education, American Red Cross, Another Chance to Succeed, Relay for Life, Agape, Jesus Community Center, Family Resource Centers, and more.

Anyone can become a Leadership Logan participant. Classes begin in August of each year and meet once per month, with the exception of December, until graduation in April. Class topics are: Orientation, Agriculture, Tourism, Education, Small Business, Government/Judicial, Health & Human Services, Chamber & LEAD/Economic Development, Environmental. Each all-day session is organized and lead by Chamber volunteers. Anyone is welcome to participate in Leadership Logan. Fees are $325.

Each year, a senior from Logan County High School and Russellville High School are picked to participate, at no cost.

To expose Leadership Logan class members to even more aspects of Logan County, each class member is required to attend at least six civic or governmental meetings during the class year. It has to be a group in which they are not currently involved.

“Leadership Logan is a great educational program. It exposes class members to many facets of Logan County that they never knew existed, or knew very little about. Newcomers, as well as life-long residents have been through the program. Leadership Logan also encourages students to become a more active participant in the community, whether it’s assisting with non-profits or becoming involved in government activities,” said Browning. “This program is still going strong after 20 years. I think it is most certainly filling a need.”
