The Logan County High School football team took the field Friday night in hopes for a win against the Todd County Central Rebels.
Logan County fought hard, but their defense couldn’t keep Todd County from taking home the win 27-16.
Logan County started the game with a 22-yard field goal by kicker Landon Stratton in the first quarter to take the lead 3-0. In the second half Anthony Oberhausen found the end zone with a two-yard run to score the first touchdown for the Cougars. But Todd Central was quick to respond with a touchdown to close in on the Cougars 10-7.
After the half, Logan County headed back on the field and scored on a 14-yard touchdown run by Gage ,but late in the third quarter, Todd County would score twice and take the lead of 21-16. The Logan County Cougars scrapped the remainder of the game, but couldn’t prevent Todd Central from scoring in the fourth quarter bringing the final score to 27-16.
The Logan County Cougars ended the game with a total of 141 rushing yards. Gage Hales lead the Cougars with 72 rushing yards with Anthony Oberhausen close behind with 70.
“Their effort was better this week and they were more focused. We eliminated some mistakes we had but we’ve got to keep pounding,” said LCHS coach Dain Gregory. “Things can still turn around for this team. They had a huge improvement from last week and we’re still progressing. We’re going to work hard and prepare for the games ahead. Things can still turn around for this team.”
The Logan County Cougars (0-3) travel to Metcalfe County tonight to face the Hornets.
