Lady Cougars win FSNB Christmas Classic

The Logan County Lady Cougars went 3-0 to become the champions of the First Southern National Bank Christmas Classic basketball tournament held last week. The Lady Cougars won 53-29 against the Carlisle Lady Comets on Saturday to win the championship game.

The Lady Cougars started the game with a huge lead of 13 points in the first quarter with a score of 18-5. The Lady Cougar defense only let the Lady Comets score three points, resulting in a 23 point lead of 31-8 going into the second half.

The Lady Cougars kept up the hard work and scored 22 points in the second half to defeat the Lady Comets 53-29 to win the championship game.

Maegann Hardison led the Lady Cougars with 15 points. Kapreshia Powell followed with 10 points and Abbey Hinton with seven points.

“The girls did great in this tournament. They did a great job doing what they are asked and being accountable. They were consistent in their effortand were playing together and better as a team. Everyone did a good job defensively and was able to shut down big players,” said head coach Scot MacAllister. “I’m real proud of them.”

The Lady Cougars will face the Russellville Lady Panthers tonight at the Clash of the Cats game held at Russellville High School.
