The Russellville Panther basketball teams traveled to Todd County Central on Friday to face the Rebels. The Lady Panthers fell 50-32 to the Lady Rebels, but the Panthers were able to come out with a 63-54 win.

The Lady Panthers started the game out strong, leading the Lady Rebels early in the game. The Lady Panthers were able to finish the first quarter up 14-11. The Lady Rebels were starting to come back in the second half, and ended the second quarter only two points behind the Lady Panthers, with a score of 20-18.

The Lady Rebels finally caught up in the third quarter of the game, leaving the Lady Panthers behind 32-34 going into the final quarter.

The Lady Rebels defense was able to shut out the Lady Panthers in the fourth quarter, not letting them add any points to the scoreboard. The Lady Rebels finished off the game 50-32.

Amber Sydnor finished the night with 15 points for the Lady Panthers. Khalia Hampton finished with eights points and DeVonna Sydnor ended the game with four.

The Panthers played next and played a close first quarter against the Rebels, but it was the Panthers who would finish out the first quarter in with a score of 12-11. The Panthers were able to lengthen the gap in the second quarter, leading 29-21 heading into the second half.

Both teams fought hard in the third quarter and ended the third quarter scoring 14 points each, with a score of 43-35. The Panthers had a huge fourth quarter, scoring 20 points, resulting in a big win of 63-54.

Jordan Kennedy was the points leader for the Panthers with 20 points. Darrin Quarles finished with 15 points and Zach Hines with 10 points.

“This was a good win tonight. I think we had too many turn overs but I think we played the best defense we have all year,” said head coach Phil Todd.

The Russellville Panthers teams will travel to Bowing Green High School for a double header tonight. This will be the boys last regular season game.
