Cougars play close games in the FSNB Christmas Classic

The Logan County boys’ basketball team went 1-1 in the first two days of the First Southern National Bank Christmas Classic. The Cougars fought through two close games, but were not able to make it to the championship game. On Thursday, the Cougars faced the Tigers from Caldwell County and won 57-54. The Cougars then went into a triple overtime game with the University Heights Blazers, but fell short one point to lose 94-93 on Friday night.

The Cougars fought a hard battle against the Caldwell County Tigers on Thursday. The Cougars ended the first quarter in the lead but the Tigers only trailed two points. The team would end the first half with a tie of 29-29.

The Cougars fell short two points after the third quarter and went into the last quarter losing 43-45. The Cougars came out and were able to out-score the Tigers by three points to advance in the FSNB Christmas Classic.

Torin Graham led the Cougars with 18 points. Ben Wright followed with 17 points and Tahmir Graham with 14.

The Cougars faced the University Heights Blazers on Friday night. The Cougars started the game rough and fell short three points at the end of the first quarter. The Cougars were able to take the lead in the second quarter, heading into the half with a 30-28 lead.

The Cougars led by four points going into the final quarter of the game, but the Blazers were able to tie the game 63-63 at the end of the fourth quarter, which put the teams into overtime.

Both teams were able keep up with each other, and head into a triple overtime game. The Cougars would fall behind in the third overtime, and were not able to come back and lost by one point to end the game 93-93.

Torin Graham led with 36 points for the Cougars. Ben Wright ended the game with 24 points. Tahmir Graham followed with 13 points and Landon Stratton with 10.
