Logan County ffa greenhouse opens on Saturday, April 9
by Katherine Taylor
LCHS FFA

It’s that time of year again. The Logan County FFA Greenhouse students have been working hard all semester prepping so that the community can enjoy some beautiful plants. The Logan County FFA Greenhouse is open on Monday through Friday, 8-3, and Saturdays, 9-1. Anyone from the neighborhood and county of Logan that’s ready for some freshly grown greens can come in and purchase all their needs for a healthy home garden. Hanging baskets in numerous varieties of flowers and 4-packs of your favorite vegetable plants are available as well. Families from all over the Russellville/Logan county district come to support the Logan County FFA Chapter.

“I feel like being a part of the Greenhouse for 2 years has not only taught me more about plant science, but it has also taught me people skills when interacting with customers on a day to day basis,” says 12th grade student Katherine Taylor on her opinion of how being in the Greenhouse program has helped her.

Greenhouse class is one class that gives students total hands on opportunity to learn more about plant science. Students are also given opportunity to learn valuable skills that will help them throughout life. Our program also allows students to interact with customers on a day to day basis which teaches the student’s morals like good manners, honesty and courtesy. Mr. Brian Estes has led the students every day in class, sculpting them into our community’s future leaders.

“A typical day in the greenhouse starts with instructions and hard work. Through this class I have learned how plants develop, how to take care of them, and how to prevent pests. Working with customers has improved my people skills and money skills,” states 11th grader, greenhouse student, Sarah Vanzee.

Buying from the Logan County FFA Greenhouse will not allow you to take home some beautiful plants, but it will help benefit the Logan County FFA chapter. Students have been working hard every day to prepare these plants for you.

“The Greenhouse has helped me see how plants develop and grow which is something I wouldn’t have been able to experience without this class,” said 11th grade Greenhouse I student, Marissa Ward.

So come on out Saturday, April 6th and pick out some beautiful plants or yummy vegetables. All of Saturday’s sales will benefit the Logan County FFA Alumni Scholarship fund.
