The Russellville Lady Panther volleyball team made their first appearance of the season as they went up against the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers on Tuesday night at home.
The junior varsity team played first and defeated the Lady Tigers 2-1.
In the first game the Lady Panthers dominated the Lady Tigers during the entire game and won 21-12. During the second game, the Lady Panthers fought hard and kept the points close but they fell short and lost 25-23. The Lady Panthers pick up their confidence in the third game and defeated the Lady Tigers 21-12.
As the junior varsity team celebrated their win, the varsity team would fall to the Lady Tigers 2-0 (25-20, 25-20) The Lady Panthers fought hard in both games but couldn’t keep up with the Lady Tigers.
“It was a good game for our first game,” said head coach Terricka Quarles. “We’re coming back from summer so we are just kocking the rust off.”
Quarles said the girls were having fun together all during the game and they were communicating very well.
“Everyone played real hard. No one gave up,” said Quarles.
Junior Devonna Sydnor played in both the varsity and junior varsity games and was disappointed with the outcome of the game.
“We could’ve done better than we put out,” said Sydnor. “We played together as a team and talked like we should be talking so that was good for us.”
The Lady Panthers will face Warren East in a home game Tuesday at 6 p.m.
