A crash Thursday on US 431, about six miles south of Russellville, caused the road to be blocked for approximately two and half hours.
A tractor trailer, driven by 52-year-old Gary Teague of Paris, Tenn., was heading south on the road when Teague locked his brakes because of “traffic and debris” in front of his vehicle, according to a report from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department.
This caused Teague’s vehicle to skid for several feet before crossing the center line into the northbound lane. The tractor trailer then collided head-on with a 1996 Jeep driven b y 19-year-old Aaron Morris of Adairville, who was travelling north toward Russellville.
Morris and his passenger, 18-year-old Daron Gregory, also of Adairville, were both injured and airlifted to Vanderbilt University Hospital, where they were both listed as being in stable condition.
Teague was taken to Logan Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
The accident is still under investigation by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department.
Assisting on the scene was the Logan County EMS, the Adairville and Russellville rural fire departments and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement.
