The Russellville Panthers went 1-1 through the first two games of the First Southern National Bank Christmas Classic basketball tournament. The Panthers had a huge win over the South Warren Spartans, ending the game with a score of 61-38 on Thursday night. The Panthers then faced the Louisville Doss Dragons and fell 84-75 on Friday.
The Panthers had a huge game after defeated the South Warren Spartans. The Panthers started the game strong with a 17 point lead at the end of the first quarter. The Panthers continued with the big lead and finished the first half with a 21 point lead of 40-19.
The Panther defense came out and only let the Spartans score four points in the third quarter of the game. The Panthers ended the game with a big finish with a 23 point win of 61-38.
Barrett Croslin led the Panthers that night with 17 points. Josh Hampton followed with 13 points with Darrin Quarles and Christian Naylor with nine each.
The Panthers would go on to face the Louisville Doss Dragons. The Panthers would begin the game with a rough start, trailing the Dragons 21-30 at the end of the first quarter. With Christian Naylor hitting a three-point shot at the end of the second quarter, the Panthers were able to tie the game 43-43 going into halftime of the game.
The Panthers came back out and were not able to stay with the Dragons, and fell behind six points going into the fourth quarter. The Panthers fought throughout the last quarter, but were not able to pull through with the win and fell 75-84.
Jordan Kennedy finished with 21 points for the Panthers. Josh Hampton finished with 18 points, Christian Naylor with 16 points, and Barrett Croslin with 11 points.
