The Russellville Panthers faced the Christian County Colonels on Monday night. The Panthers played hard and battled, but the Colonels came out on top. The Panthers would fall 6-7 to the Colonels.
The game started off slow for both teams, and it Colby Nichols who scored for the Panthers that would put the Panthers up in the bottom of the third.
The Colonels would get good hits in the top of the fourth and would bring in three runs, taking the lead of 3-1 over the Panthers. But the Panthers did not give up, Zach Denny and Jacob Proctor were able to make it to base, bringing the game to a 3-3 tie going into the fifth inning.
Zach Denny was able to make another run for the Panthers in the bottom of the fifth, bringing the Panthers back into the lead of 4-3.
But the Panthers were not able to hold the lead for long. The Colonels would make some good plays while the Panthers made several errors, resulting in the Colonels taking the lead of 7-4 at the top of the sixth.
The Panther were able to get two runs in at the bottom of the sixth, but the Colonels would end the night with the win of 7-6 over the Panthers.
Barrett Croslin would pitch for the Panthers all night. Croslin would end the game with five strikeouts and allowing eight hits and seven runs.
The Panthers will play their last regular season game Saturday on their home field against Madisonville-North Hopkins at 1 p.m.
