The Logan County basketball teams traveled to Franklin-Simpson on Friday night to face the Wildcats. Both teams worked hard, but neither could bring in a win.
The girls game started off slow but the Lady Wildcats picked up momentum and started to gain a big lead against the Lady Cougars early in the game. The Lady Cougars were able to hold on and keep the gap short going into a the second half with a score of 17-24.
The second half of the game the Lady Cougars tried to come back and came within ten points of the Lady Wildcats in the third quarter. The Lady Wildcats maintained the lead through out the rest of the game and the Lady Cougars could not catch up, which ended the game with a 35-50 loss for the Lady Cougars.
Maegann Hardison led the Lady Cougars with 14 points and Abbey Hinton finished with 9.
The Cougars played next with a close game with the Wildcats. The Cougars were able to stay with the Wildcats in the first half of them game and ended the first half with a tie of 30-30.
Both teams battled for the lead throughout the third quarter, which the Cougars were able to end with a 44-42 lead heading into the fourth quarter of the game.
In the fourth quarter, the Cougars were not able to break away from the Wildcats and stayed within a couple of points of each other until the end. Tahmir Graham put the Cougars in a one point lead with seconds to go on the clock, but the Wildcats would return and score two points to leave the Cougars down one point with one second to go. Torin Graham attempted a long shot but did not make it, to end the game with a 52-53 loss.
Torin Graham led the Cougars with 23 points. Ben Wright ended the game with 9 and Landon Stratton with 7.
Both teams will travel to Barren County tonight to face the Trojans, the girls game will start at 6 p.m.
