The Lady Panthers faced the Clinton County Lady Bulldogs on Monday. The Lady Panthers attempted a comeback, but could not close to gap to fall to the Lady Bulldogs 63-56.
The Lady Panthers started the game off very slow, only scoring eight points in the first quarter. As a result, the Lady Bulldogs were able to gain a 13 point lead going into the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs kept pressing on and were able to keep a big distance from the Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers fell behind 38-20 heading into the second half of the game.
After halftime, the Lady Panthers came back onto the court ready to play. the Lady Panther defense was able to shut down the Lady Bulldogs, only letting them score ten points in the third quarter to bring the Lady Panthers closer to a victory.
The Lady Panthers fought hard and scored 22 points in the second half, but it was not enough to keep the Lady Bulldogs from winning 63-56.
Khalia Hampton led the Lady Panthers in points with 20. Amber Sydnor finished the game with 17 and Nathanshia Haskins with six.
“I don’t feel like we played four quarters. We need to prepare ourselves for games and stop looking at the competition and look at our potential,” said head coach Dedra Adler. “I think we underestimated this team and we had a slow start but they played hard during the second half.”
The Lady Panthers will face the South Warren Lad Spartans tonight at 6:00.
