The Russellville Panthers played the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats on Tuesday. The Panthers fought and played a close game that lasted nine innings, but fell 2-1 in extras to the Wildcats.
The Panthers started the game off right when lead-off batter Barrett Croslin hit a single and stole second. Corey Wright stepped up to the plate and hit a double, driving in Croslin to put the Panthers up 1-0. The Panthers made some errors in the first inning, which resulted in the Wildcats tying the game 1-1.
The two teams went on to battle for eight more innings without either team making any runs. Jacob Proctor came through for the Panthers. Proctor pitched seven innings and struck out nine and allowed only four hits.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Wildcats would get the bases loaded and score on an error to end the game 2-1.
The Panthers will travel to Christian County tonight to face the Colonels.
