Both the city of Russeville and the Logan County Fiscal Court received news recently that they were included in a Muhlenberg County man’s bequeath, along with others throughout the state.
Bland C. Hardison left a small bequest to be distributed to all 120 county animal shelters, 235 cemeteries, five hospice centers, some churches, the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
Russellville received $2,590 to be used on the Maple Grove Cemetery. This money will be put into the perpetual care fund to be used for the upkeep of this cemetery.
“We appreciate this gift from Mr. Hardison,” said Russellville Mayor Mark Stratton.
The Logan County Fiscal Court received $1,432 for its animal shelter, which is run by the Logan County Humane Society.
“We are very grateful to Mr. Hardison for thinking of the homeless animals in Logan County. We wish his family the best during their time of sorrow in the passing of their loved one,” said society president Chris Cooper.
The money that was given to the shelter will go towards the purchase of needed equipment to help house the homeless population until permanent homes can be found for them.
The funds must be used in a manner related to each program.
