The Logan County Cougars are starting their season off even with a loss to the Warren East Raiders and a win against the Meade County Green Wave. The Cougars fell to the Raiders 68-83 but came back the next day to defeat the Green Wave 68-54.

The Cougars started their game strong against the Raiders leading after the first quarter 25-20. The second quarter would be a rough one for the Cougars as they fell ten points behind the Raiders ending the first half 42-52. The Cougars couldn’t keep up with the Raiders during the second half as the Cougars lost 68-83.

Ben Wright and Torin Graham lead the Cougars in points with 18 each. Clint Knight followed close behind with 16 points and J.R. Morrow finished with eight points.

“The score doesn’t indicate the effort out of these boys tonight. I’m proud of the group, they did what I asked them to do,” said head coach Lonnie Mason. “The chemistry is getting better but it is something that is going to get better. We’re going to work on getting a better defense for the next game.”

The had a very good game against the Meade County Green Wave on Saturday. The Cougars started off strong leading 15-12 after the first quarter. The Green Wave kept up with the Cougars and followed behind with score of 29-26. The two teams stayed close in points but the Cougars had a big fourth quarter and finished the game 68-54.

Torin Graham and Ben Wright lead the Cougars in this game also with 16 points each. Clint Knight finished the game with 14 and Landon Stratton had 10.

The Cougars will play a double-header with the Lady Cougars on Friday against the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats.
