The first baseball clash was on Thursday with the Logan County Cougars and the Russellville Panthers. The Cougars played hard and took on the big win of 12-2 against the Panthers.
The Cougars started the game off early with two runs brought in by Ian Woodall. The Cougars prevented the Panthers from scoring in the first two innings, while adding four more runs at the top of the second, with a score of 6-0 at the top of the third.
The Panthers would get three outs before the Cougars could score in the third, while Barrett Croslin and senior Crewsdon Kemp got in two runs for the Panthers bringing the score to 6-2 going into the fourth inning. Neither teams got in any runs in the fourth inning of the game.
The Cougars had a big fifth inning, adding five more runs to their score. Runs were scored by walks by Blake Gettings and Gage Hales. Joe Holiday scored on a single and two errors were brought in.
One run by the Cougars in the sixth inning finished the game as they took home the win of 12-2.
The Cougars will play tonight on their home field against Rossview, Tenn. at 5 p.m. The Panthers next game is on Tuesday against the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats.
