The Logan County Track team had a successful meet on Tuesday at the South Warren All Comers. The girls varsity finished in 5th place with a score of 37 points. The boys varsity finished tied in second place with South Warren with a score of 138.

The Logan County girls varsity team may be small, but two seniors performed very well for the Lady Cougars. Senior Jasmine Martin competed in the 100 meter dash and won first place with a time of 13.74. Hayley Mayher was a huge contributor for the team. Mayher finished second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:08. Mayher was also a big player in the field events. Mayher won the discus throw and placed sixth in the girls shot put.

The Boys varsity had a very successful night at the meet. Senior Justin Rone was a huge contributor for the Cougars. Rone finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.04 and third place in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 44.94. Rone also won the high jump and the long jump for the Cougars. Michael Sydnor won first place in the triple jump.

Dylan Cole led the Cougars in the 100 meter dash with a fourth place finish with a time of 13.74. Cole also placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.41. Colton Spencer won the 400 meter dash with a time a 52.81.

The Cougar relay teams had impressive performances for the Cougars. The Cougars 4x200 meter relay finished in second place with a time of 1:36. The 4x100 relay team finished in fourth with a time of 48.53. The 4x400 team had a great win with a time of 3:41.

The long distance runners had a great night also. Levi Crossley and Cory Ford competed in the 1600 meter relay. Crossley finished in seventh place with a tiem of 5:17 and Ford finished in eighth place with a time of 5:18. Crossley won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11. Senior Sye Head won first place in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:29.

Dylan Givens led the Cougars in field events on Tuesday. Givens won fourth in the discus throw, fifth in the shot put and third in the javelin throw.

“We tried some people at new positions and are looking to solidify where we are in some events as we move into the season looking to battle it out for a Region 1 2A Championship. The score doesn’t say enough about so many great things that happened with our team last night,” said head coach Greg Howard.

Howard says he is impressed the most after seeing the varsity runners cheer on the middle school runners during the meet. Howard says the teams wonderful effort and compassion and pride the team has never ceases to amaze him.

“Another wonderful day in the track world as Coach Proctor and I get to witness greatness from our Logan County kids! We are truly blessed,” said Howard.
