The Logan County Cougars brought home their first big win of the season Friday night against the Metcalfe County Hornets.

The Cougars won 35-12 against the Hornets in Edmonton, which brings their season record to 1-3.

The Cougars started the game with a 42-yard touchdown run made by Gage Hales early in the first quarter. The rest of the first half was quiet and the Cougars lead at the half 7-0. The Hornets scored first in the third quarter with a five yard touchdown pass, but the Cougars came back quickly to score a touchdown when Justin Rone threw a 23-yard touchdown strike to Michael Sydnor.

The Cougars would end the third quarter with a 74-yard touchdown pass from Rone to Sydnor. The duo wasn’t finished there as the two connected to score another 23 yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Gage Hales put the finishing touch on the Cougars win as he ran for a two yard touchdown with 5:22 to go in the fourth quarter as the Cougars ended the game 35-12.

Justin Rone ended the game going 15-28 for 224 yards and three touchdowns. Michael Sydnor caught five passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns. Gage Hales ended the game with 90 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Landon Stratton was perfect going 5-5 on kicking the extra points.
