The Logan County Little League 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars went 3-1 through pool play but fell in the semifinals of the district tournament last week in Owensboro.

The Logan County squad won their opening game against Butler County 22-0 as four pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter.

Three players homered for Logan - DJ Beard, Jack Campbell and Kaleb Justice. Campbell finished with a team-high five RBI and scored three runs. Nick Wooden went 4-for-4 and scored four times with a pair of RBI. Justice had a pair of hits, two RBI and scored three runs.

Campbell, Wooden, Tanner Baldwin and Jack Steward each pitched one inning apiece, with none giving up a hit. They also combined four 11 strikeouts.

In the second game, Logan County won 25-2 against Muhlenberg County.

Beard led the team in hitting with six RBI, including a home run. He also scored three runs. Wooden went 4-for-4 for a second straight game and drove in five runs while scoring one. Jordan Blick went 3-for-4 and scored five runs. Campbell and Justice also had three hits apiece, with Justice driving in five RBI.

Blick, Koby Wall, Nate Woodall, Beard and Austin Rayno all pitched in the victory. Wall struck out three of the four batters he faced in his one inning of work.

Against Ohio County in Game 3, Logan County won 13-3.

Justice went 2-for-2 and scored three runs. Wooden had a pair of hits and two RBI. Campbell and Woodall also had two RBI each.

Blick pitched two hitless and scoreless innings to earn the win on the mound. He struck out two and walked one.

In the final game of pool play, Logan County fell 7-2 against Bowling Green East, but that was still good enough to advance to the tournament’s final four.

In the loss, Beard had another home run and Blick was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Rayno scored the other run of the game on Blick’s RBI hit.

In the semifinals of the tournament, Logan County faced Ohio County a second time, but the result wasn’t as good as the team lost a heat breaker 5-4.

Logan County led 2-1 heading into the final inning, but Ohio County scored four runs in the top of the inning and Logan managed only two in the bottom and were eliminated from the tournament.

Bradley Taylor led the team at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

Campbell had one hit, two runs and an RBI. Wooden scored Logan County’s other run.
