Lady Panthers get first win; Lady Cougars fall to Lady Spartans

The Russellville Lady Panthers basketball team got their first win of the season on Monday after defeating the Warren East Lady Raiders in Bowling Green. The Lady Panthers won the game 47-37.

The Lady Panthers started the game slow and were down one point going into the second quarter. The Lady Panthers managed to out score the Lady Raiders and take the lead at halftime with a score of 22-19.

The third quarter was big for the Lady Panther as they scored 15 points to lead by seven going into the final quarter of the game. The Lady Panthers battled hard and gained a ten point lead to seal their first win of the season 47-37.

Amber Sydnor had a big game for the Lady Panthers scoring almost half of their points with a total of 22 points for herself. Khalia Hampton finished the game with nine and Nathanshia Haskins with eight.

The Lady Cougars also played on Monday night as they faced the South Warren Lady Spartans. The Lady Cougars were down for most of the game but had a big comeback in the third quarter. Unfortunately, the Lady Cougars were not able to hold on to the lead and fell to the Lady Spartans 66-75.

Both teams will play on Friday night on their home courts. The Lady Panthers will face the Todd County Central Lady Rebels and the Lady Cougars will face the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats.
