The South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force (SCKDTF), in conjunction with five other agencies, made a substantial arrest March 22 at exit 6 in Franklin.
After a lengthy investigation into a Tennessee marijuana smuggling organization agents acted swiftly and took into custody 26-year-old Adam Reed Maltin of Hendersonville, Tenn.
Maltin was eventually arrested by the SCKDTF after meeting with undercover agents for the purpose of distributing marijuana from an indoor grow operation based out of Hendersonville, Tenn.
Agents took into custody over two pounds of marijuana and $3,015 in cash.
Agents worked with the TN 18th District Drug Task Force in acquiring search warrants on two locations in the Hendersonville area. An indoor grow operation was recovered at one of the locations. A second subject identified as Alan Maltin of Hendersonville, Tenn, was taken into custody and arrested.
“Investigators know that the drug trafficking organization has ties to not only Kentucky and Tennessee, but other states as well,” said agents of the SCKDTF.
Charges were filed for trafficking in marijuana, u/8 oz, conspiracy to traffic in marijuana, o/8 oz and possession of drug paraphernalia. The investigation continues.
Assisting agencies were the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department, Franklin Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement and TN 18th District Drug Task Force.
