Rodney Harkleroad, deputy of the Logan County Emergency Management, was approved by Fiscal Court last week to be the official “applicant agent” for Logan County regarding disasters.

Harkleroad told the court Tuesday that FEMA requires an official applicant agent to handle all the paperwork surrounding a disaster, which Harkleroad already does.

Harkleroad asked the court when they received funds from FEMA for disaster cleanup from the ice storm in February would they turn over some of that funding to emergency agencies who helped such as volunteer fire departments and emergency management. These entities incurred expenses during the clean up which included Lewisburg- $6,100; Auburn $3,100; Russellville Rural-$1,000 and Search & Rescue $6,600.

The court agreed unanimously to hand back 87 percent which is what FEMA is responsible for in each clean up.

It was noted that it could take months possibly even years to receive the FEMA funds.
