(Southern Kentucky) – With a little more than one month to go in the 2012-13 United Way of Southern Kentucky official campaign season, volunteers are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to raise $1.7 million. Many companies across Southern Kentucky are stepping up to the challenge and experience early campaign wins.

Examples of companies who are experiencing early campaign wins include:

• 49% of GM’s employees at the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly plant pledged more than $78,000 to the UW this year, an incredible 26% increase over last year.

• Logan Aluminum’s corporate office and more than 63% of its employees pledged a combined total in excess of $161,000, making Logan Aluminum the largest single campaign contributor for UWSK.

• Fruit of the Loom Distribution Center is on track to raise $19,000 with their UW campaign this year, an increase of 24% over last year.

• 58% of Trace Die Cast’s employees pledged almost $55,000 to the UW campaign this year.

• Warren County Water District achieved 100% employee giving to UW this year, and collectively gave more than $17,000.

• Employees at English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley raised more than $7,800 for their UW campaign this year, representing a 16 % increase over last year.

• Other companies who have seen increases in their 2012/13 United Way campaign over the previous year include: Bowling Green Independent Schools, Graves Gilbert Clinic, Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, The Family Enrichment Center, Citizens First Bank, and the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Steve Wallace, President & CEO of United Way of Southern Kentucky says, “The dedication of these employees and their companies to the mission of United Way of Southern Kentucky cannot be overstated. Our generous contributors are a lifeline of support to approximately 40 community-based service programs in the 10-county BRADD area we serve. The staff managing these programs are working tirelessly to improve the lives of thousands of people who are experiencing difficulty in meeting their basic, human needs. It’s my hope that by providing funding resources today in support of these programs we will create lifelong changes in our communities, not only for this generation but for many generations to come”.
