The deadline to file to run for political office in Logan County is Tuesday, January 26 and so far very few people have filed to run for the four city councils.
Only Russellville has had anyone come forward to file to run for city council – and it has had only two file to fill the six seats. Those two are current council member Pat Bell, who filed Dec. 21, and Joe Laird, who filed Nov. 9.
Auburn, Adairville and Lewisburg will be filling each of their six-member councils, but as of Monday morning there are no candidates for the May election.
Lewisburg and Russellville will also be choosing mayors. No one has filed yet for Lewisburg, but current councilman Doug Nash has filed for Russellville mayor.
The county races that will be contested so far include:
Logan County Attorney: incumbent Tom Noe (D) and Corey Morgan (R)

Locally, those offices include state district 14 representative and District 7 Judge.
No one has yet filed to run for the state representative seat held by Martha Jane King, but the district judge’s race will be contested.
Incumbent Sue Carrol Browning will be challenged by Kenneth R. Williams, Jr., of Lewisburg.
