“At the last it bitteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder”. Proverbs 23:32

So much time has been spent on the question” Should a Christian drink alcohol.” The verse at the top of the article describes the end result of alcohol use. This poison has destroyed more lives, broken up more homes, sent more children to bed hungry, killed more people on the highways than anything in America, yet it has the seal of approval from every state in the country. I want to look at some lies promoted by the liquor crowd.

1. It’s all right to drink as long as you don’t get drunk Phil. 2:5” Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus”.How can you have the mind of Christ when it’s distorted by liquor? If it takes four beers to get a person drunk, are they half drunk after 2 beers? Liquor changes the way a person thinks, acts, even his ability to function as a rational person does.

2. It’s okay to drink socially Eph. 1:4 ” That we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” What a lot of people fail to realize is that the lost world watches to see if the Christian is really different from them. When I was lost and on the road to hell, the one thing that kept me there was watching the hypocrites that fill most Baptist churches. When the drunkard sees the deacon drinking a beer, he sees no reason to be in church or to listen to those who are really concerned for his soul.

3. Liquor may hurt others, but not me Gal. 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth,

that shall he also reap.” Every drunkard started out as a social drinker. Sin will always snowball into something worse than it started out as. All the billboards depict a pretty woman holding a beer can, go to the hospitals and psych wards and see the real effects of the liquor bottle. When I was younger I saw a drunkard with severe liver disease due to drunkenness, he was as yellow as a banana and thats how he went out into eternity. When he died where was the liquor crowd standing around a fire with a beer can in their hand saying ,”It doesn’t get any better than this?” Billy Sunday said this” Liquor has it’s place, and it’s place is in hell.” I for one agree 100 percent!
