if you haven’t done so yet, there’s still plenty of time left to get your pet registered for the News-Democrat & Leader’s annual “Cutest Pet Contest.”

It’s simple to register your pet.

Just click on the contest logo on the News-Democrat & Leader website (www.newsdemocratleader.com) and follow the directions. Entries will be accepted through Saturday, Sept. 29. If you don’t see the logo the first time you visit the site, click refresh or reload and it should show up.

But before that, starting Monday, Sept. 17, the entries will go before the voters. And voting will continue through Sunday, Sept. 30.

You’ll be able to solicit votes for your pet through your Facebook account and other social media outlets.

But it’s not just cats and dogs that are being sought.

“Cats and dogs are great, but I’m betting there are some other pretty cute pets out there - like pot-bellied pigs, horses, ducks, ferrets, chinchillas, snakes and others,” said Lola Nash, general manager of the News-Democrat & Leader. “We want to see photos of everyone’s pet, and then see who wins.”

Prizes of $100 will be awarded to three Logan County winners, thanks to the generosity of local businesses PSK, Southern States and Ventra Plastics.

“We can’t thank our sponsors enough, because, without them, we would have no contest,” Nash said. “And we would certainly urge everyone to support those businesses every chance they get.”

So get your photos ready for downloading - we want to see those award-winning pets!
