Local hero and World War II veteran Moses Gaines was one of the special speakers during Russellville’s Veterans Day Celebration held on Carrico Square Wednesday. The event, which was held in conjunction with Veterans Day, was organized by Darlene Gooch Director of Main Street Russellville and honored all the men and women who have fought and are fighting for our freedom. Master of Ceremonies was Brother Joe Carrico who introduced Mr. Gaines along with World War II Veteran Howard Williams and Charles Shelton. Mr. Shelton was unable to attend the event but was give a Kentucky Colonel along with a citation from the State House of Representatives for his sacrifice and for surviving the sinking of the S.S.
