The Carpenter Fitness & Aquatic Center started its 3rd Annual Re-Shape Russellville Weight Loss Program on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 with 64 people participating. The program lasted for 12 weeks with the final weigh-in being on Monday, March 30. There were 28 participants who weighed in on the 30th. The participants were weighed, measured and given a fitness test on Monday, Jan. 5. They were required to meet with a personal trainer once a week, weigh in every two weeks, be measured every four weeks, and attend two meetings (one on fitness and one on wellness), during the 12-week program. At the half-way point, they were given the fitness test again to see how much they had improved.

They had a final meeting on Saturday, April 4 to announce the winners. The winners were based on highest total weight loss percentage. First place went to Charlie Page who lost 64 pounds for a 23.7 percent weight loss. He won a $500 Visa gift card, a one year family membership to the Carpenter Center, and a one hour Swedish massage.

Second place went to Tim Sears, who lost 49.5 pounds for a 22.1 percent weight loss. He won a $200 Visa gift card and a six month family membership.

Third place winner was Russ Chitwood who lost 40.5 pounds for an 18.5 percent weight loss. He won a $100 Visa gift card and a three month family membership.

Teresa Galiszewski was recognized as the top female finisher (fourth overall). She lost 29.5 pounds for an 18 percent weight loss. She received a 30 minute neck, back and shoulder massage and a workout DVD.

Everyone that weighed in on the 30th started out weighing 6,073 pounds as a group on Jan. 5 and ended up weighing 5,535.5 pounds for a total weight loss of 537.5 pounds and 8.8 percent. Many door prizes were given away that day.
