The Russellville High School tennis team hosted its first two tennis matches against Franklin-Simpson and South Warren. Even though the Panthers don’t have a girls team, they hope to field a strong boys team in anticipation for the end of year tournaments.

They squared off against district opponent Franklin-Simpson and found that some of the tougher competition to be in their own back yard.

The Panthers fell to the Wildcats as a team 0-9 with individual scores being; John David Reeves losing 0-6, 1-6; Kyle Harris falling 2-8; Chris Collier falling 3-8; Travis McDaniels losing 2-8; Jason Fox and Jeffrey Fox losing their two matches both 3-8.

In the second match against South Warren the Panthers fell as a team 4-8 with individual scores being Reeves losing both matches 4-6, and 4-6; Chris Collier falling to former Logan County Jake Neiman 2-6, and 2-6; Jeffrey Fox winning the first match 6-2 and then falling 4-6, 4-6.

The Panthers will look to rebound in their next matches in preparation of the end of the year tournaments.
