Joe Harlan, 88, of Adairville, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green.

He was born in White County, Ark. on Nov. 14, 1924, a son of the late O.V. Harlan and Jessie M. Nelson Harlan.

Mr. Harlan was a United States Army veteran and POW in World War II and worked most of his life for TVA as a Line Foreman. He also was a member of the Adairville Baptist Church where he was a Deacon.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Brother Mark Bond, Brother Donnie Blick and Brother Peter Santisteban officiating. Burial followed in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville. Visitation began Thursday, Jan. 17 from 1-8 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Ross, Jerred Ross, Nyx Hunt, Andy Cats, Steven Adler, B.J. Carter, and Sean Lampley.

He is survived by his wife, Aarah Lampley Harlan; his son, Joe M. Harlan of Russellville; his daughters, Sandra Blick of Columbus, Kan. and Carol Ross, Susan Adler and Jane Serafin, all of Russellville; his sister, Mary Alice Hill of Ward, Ark.; 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
