The Logan County cross country team will host the regional race on Saturday. The Logan County Cougars will be facing nine other teams to head into the state championship next weekend in Lexington.

The Logan County Cougars will ten runners competing for the boys team including four seniors Colton Spencer, Noah Thomas, Austin Rouse and Sye Head.

“I’m confident in our teams ability to continue success. I love it and I’m sad it is my last region,” said Colton Spencer.

“I’m excited. I’m sad it is my last race but I’m going to make it count. We’re going to go out with a bang,” said Noah Thomas.

“It’s going to be awesome. I’ve been running for three years and I love it,” said Austin Rouse.

“I think were going to win our region by over 40 points and be in the top 2 at state. Everyone has to be on the same page on the same day but we can do it,” said Sye Head. “I’ve had a lot of roadblocks physically and mentally but it always comes together in the end, but that’s a God thing.”

The Lady Cougars will be losing seniors Addie Baldwin and Jasmine Martin.

“I’m anxious and nervous. I’m glad we can finish the season here,” said Addie Baldwin. “I’m going to give it my all and make my coach proud.”

“This season has been tough but it’s gotten easier as we went along. I’m going to miss it. I want to make my coach proud, I love him very much and I’m going to miss him,” said Jasmine Martin.

The Cougars have been preparing all season physically and mentally to come out and perform well during the regional race.

“Physically their ready. I want them to want it as much as we have wanted it in the previous years. Our team is hungry and we’ve been working hard,” said head coach Greg Howard.

The region is hosted at Logan County High School this Saturday. The girls varsity race starts at 11:00 a.m. and the boys varsity race will start at 11:45 a.m.
