On June 8-11 the Logan County FFA took 16 members to Rupp Arena in Lexington for the State FFA Convention. The members that were competing won at the regional level and advanced to the state level. Out of all the people that competed, we had three 3rd place winners and two 2nd place winners. In the speaking contests: Ethan White received third place in Nursery and Landscaping Impromptu Speaking, and Tyler Toon received second place in Turf and Lawn Impromptu Speaking. In the proficiency areas: Tyler Toon received 3rd place in his Small Animal Production and Care proficiency, Zack Armistead received 2nd place in his Emerging Ag Technology proficiency, and Luke Wetton received third place in his Ag Communications proficiency. Zack Armistead was also the Barren River Regional State Farmer. The members had a great time at the convention because not only did they compete in contests, they also got out of their comfort zones and got to meet new people and experience new things that you don’t get a chance to do anywhere else.
