On July 20, the Logan County FFA Chapter went to FFA Camp in Hardinsburg. There were a total of 38 members that went to camp this year. FFA camp gave the newly elected officers a chance to bond and get to know one another better. Every year, the new senior officers are in charge of a chapter hour where the whole chapter meets together and comes up with new ideas for the upcoming year. This year they had a fun day and played some games. They had a water balloon toss and then they messed around and shot water guns at each other. During the day, all the members had to go to classes that had to do with their office within the chapter and then they had two special interest classes. These officer classes gave them leadership skills they can’t find anywhere else. The leadership skills help them carry out their office for the upcoming year.

Every year at camp there is a chapter volleyball tournament on Wednesday and Thursday night. The Logan County FFA Chapter won the volleyball tournament this year. They played against Cumberland County, a team that consisted of five boys, in the championship game. The Logan County team was made up of Shenna Bilicki, Missy Miles, Cheyenne Bilicki, Kelsey Odle, Robyn Estes, Brenna Brown, Steven Weir and Jacob Speck.

During the whole week at camp during the members’ classes and athletic groups they can earn leadership points by their teachers. Whoever gets the most leadership points throughout the whole week can receive a Leadership Award or an Outstanding Leadership Award. FFA Camp is the only place that a person can receive the State Leadership Pin, and they can only get it by getting leadership points and receiving the Outstanding Leadership Award. This year we had two people receive the Leadership Award: Daniel Chick and Megan Scarbrough. We had three people receive the Outstanding Leadership Award: Justin Allen, Daniel Chick and Robyn Estes.

FFA Camp is a fun time for the members to make new friends and memories that will never be forgotten.
