The 2012 Leadership Logan class chose as their class project the Family Resource/Youth Services Centers in all of Logan County and Russellville City Schools. After hearing testimonies from the resource directors of their passion for students in need, the class set a goal of raising $10,000 and are still $2,100 away from meeting that goal.

To date, monies raised have gone to provide lunches for intercession at Lewisburg School, to send a student to 4-H Camp for the first time and donated some $1,300 toward the School Ready Fest, helping to provide school supplies for students in need.

“The next item on the class agenda is the Angel Tree and to provide Christmas gifts for students in need,” said Jana Hanks, president of the 2012 Leadership Logan class. “There have been so many generous individuals and businesses in Logan County that have given graciously toward this class project. With the holidays approaching, the class is working hard to meet their $10,000 goal so that they will be able to help more students in need during the holidays,” Hanks added.

Hanks says sometimes it’s the small things that make a child smile and Leadership Logan 2012 is working hard to achieve the goal they set out to meet.

“What the class can do depends on community support. Tell your friends, family and co-workers about our mission and help to make this possible for our youth in Logan County. Leadership Logan strives to make a difference in the youth of Logan County. The class wants to go that extra mile and appreciates any support that anyone can give,” said Hanks.

Leadership Logan is a program offered by the Logan County Chamber of Commerce that was designed for participants to learn about the great wealth of natural resources, people, and organizations that make the quality of life in Logan County second to none.

Leadership Logan is hear for those who wish to learn more about Logan County, help improve our quality of life, evaluate the climate for doing business, become more involved and informed and work with a spirit of unity and cooperation toward the o0verall goal of preservation and progress.

Anyone can become involved with Leadership Logan.

A schedule is made up of several places Leadership Logan classes will be able to visit and learn about. Each class will learn about agriculture, natural beauty, the school systems, small business and industry, who makes the laws and who enforces them, the services available to feed the heart, mind and soul and find out what the future holds for Logan County.

Fee per participant is $325. An application and information about the next class can be obtained at the Logan County Chamber of Commerce.

Over 250 people have participated in Leadership Logan since it first began in 1991. Thanks to alumni projects, many non-profit and educational programs have benefited with donated labor and funds. Well over $20,000 has been raised by alumni for worthy projects/organizations, such as Adult Education, American Red Cross, Another Chance to Succeed, Relay for Life, Agape, Jesus Community Center, Family Resource Centers, and more.

“The primary purposes of Leadership Logan is to educate, to instill a sense of community ownership, to encourage volunteerism, and to create lasting bonds among class members,” said Lisa Browning, Director of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce. “By having the class members attend civic and government meetings and to conduct alumni projects, they are exposed to much more of the county around them. Not only do they see the positive aspects of Logan County, but they are also introduced to the many needs,” added Browning.
