Well, I guess you know by now the winter has almost gotten me down. So the Hubby says, “Why don’t we take a road trip and so we did. But really after you get about half way through your road trip you wish you were back home.

Yes, we are finally back to our Home Sweet Home! We are back home and sleeping in our own bed! I love to take a trip but as usual it is great to get back home. Of course the Hubby does all the driving. You got it! Nobody can drive as good as he can. I know you ladies out there have the same problem. But it doesn’t bother me too much because I don’t like to drive anyway. I just sit back and pretend that I am “Miss Daisy”. You remember the movie “Driving Miss Daisy”. I just sit back and relax and read my book!

Anyway, we started off on the freeway and the trucks almost blew us off the road. You know you don’t have that problem driving in Logan County but when you get on the freeway, its “watch out” here we come. I think the truck drivers try to play the game, “lets see how many people I can pass” in five minutes. But of course it did not bother the Hubby. He put is on cruise control and got in the right lane and said, just go on by you silly guys; you aren’t going to bother me.

You know you just need to go on a road trip once in a while. We cruised on over to the Nephews house and spent the night, then we came on back home by way of the back roads.

We were driving along and I told the Hubby, man I am hungry. Well, he said, “there is nothing out here”. So you will have to survive until we come to a town! Then all of a sudden, there it was in the middle of “no where”; a cute little restaurant with the words “GOOD FOOD” printed on the porch roof. We stopped and of course everyone there looked at us like “who is that”! You know how it is when someone comes in a small country restaurant and you don’t know them; you think the same thing. Well, any way we ordered and all of a sudden I turned around and asked the lady behind us sitting in a booth, “where are we?” She said, “WHAT”. She looked at me as if I had lost my LAST MARBLE! I told her we were lost and our GPS brought us by this restaurant and we were hungry and “here we are”! She asked where are you going. I told her Lewisburg and then of course she wanted to know where we had come from. Well, I really confused the heck out of her when I told her we had started out not far from here we think and we had been several places since we left but we were on our way back to Lewisburg. She looked at me as thought I was from another planet.

She told me I was in Lacey Kentucky and we weren’t that far from Lewisburg. She said she and her Hubby were going back home from Greenville where she had gone to get quilting supplies.

Well, I really was glad to find her and I began to tell her some problems I had with a quilt and she said her sister in law still did hand quilts and so we swapped names and phone numbers before she left. Isn’t it a small world? It’s also a small town, it has one intersection in the road and one restaurant; I didn’t even see a gas station!

I must say the food was really good but the little cook was as thin as a rail. She couldn’t have eaten her own cooking and stayed that thin. She was in the process of making a raisin pie and man did the Hubby’s ears perk up! He wanted to know when it was going to be ready to slice but much to his sorry we had to leave before it was ready to eat. She had a coconut pie also but a lady came in and bought it before he knew she had it! He told her he would just have to leave without anything sweet! Poor thing. I didn’t mention the big chocolate cake that was beside the cash register. He overlooked that because he always lets me pay the bill!

So we followed the GPS on into Lewisburg and we were home again. This road trip was really different. I will tell you right now if you want to put some excitement in your life, just jump in your car and start out on a ROAD TRIP. You will meet a lot of good people and the best part is good food.

Till next time hug the first person you meet after you read this article and give them the SHOCK OF THEIR LIFE! Tell them that old Tulip Green made you do it. I bet they will like it anyway! They will probably hug you back.
