Well, it has been two weeks and I am already missing all you people. Man, my back yard does not have a lake in it but it does have beautiful trees and lots of leaves on the ground. But that does not compare to the lake. I hope all of you who live on the lake really soak up all that beauty for me while I am gone.

You know it is just like moving twice a year. We pack up and move to the lake and every year we say we are not going to take anything we have to drag back and forth. But I do not know where all that “STUFF” comes from that I unload at the lake when I get there. And of course, I am forever looking for a bargain at a yard sale, so that means one more thing that must come home from the lake to our “home away from home”. Some time I think…where is my home? I sometime feel like I am a nomad. Don’t ask me what that is, it looks like I would look it up and find out.

One thing I do take care of right before I leave and that is changing my address so I can receive the newspaper while I am gone. Can’t live without knowing what is going on in Lewisburg, Dunmour and Russellville.

When I finally decided that this time when I was home I was going to do a little “SPRING CLEANING” early! I bet you thought I did not bring the Hubby with me but after my announcement, he came to life! I thought for a minute that he was going to hibernate during the winter. But when he found the news out that he was going to involved in the “spring cleaning”, he said WOMAN, NO SOONER DO WE GET IN THE DOOR, YOU ARE STARTING OFF ON A “WILD TEAR”. That is even before I have an opportunity to sit down in my favorite chair and “do nothing”. Of course he is pro at doing nothing. He certainly has had a lot of experience learning how to rest. Poor thing, it really gets to him when I say, you must be getting old. That really gets him “jumping around” like a spring chicken. So you ladies put it in your memory bank and I give you permission to use it any time you need help from your Hubby!.

Back to this cleaning affair, I am sure most of you are professionals when it come to that but I am so bad about saving everything, especially if it have been given to me by a good friend! And pictures, man did I have pictures. I got this bright idea that maybe the people in the pictures would enjoy seeing what they use to look like. So I sat down last Sunday and sorted pictures and then I put them in envelopes and wrote a cute note and dropped them in the mail at the post office. Most of them had to be weighed but I have had a call from everyone that I sent them to and they told me what a surprise it was to receive them. And best of all, it brought back old great memories.

Most of us have many of those tucked away in our heart. I guess that was why it was so hard to continue to clean out and actually get the trash can out and put things in “FILE 13”. This morning the garbage man thought he had hit the jack pot! Anything that was worth passing on to anyone else I have it sorted into a bag marked Goodwill. But I admit most of it went into the File 13 bag. I shed a few tear thinking about all the fun I had wearing that favorite dress. I thought I was something else. And of course in the eyes of my date at the moment, I am sure I was. Kids today really miss out of a lot of things that will create memories for them for times to come. But I wouldn’t want to go back and go through those days again for anything. We will always refer to them as ‘THE GOOD OLE DAYS”. And believe me they were the best days of my life.

Well, I am almost settled in our little “winter get away cottage” trying to keep warm and of course I am watching FOOTFALL. The precious fishing pole is stored away in a very safe place at the lake just waiting for me to get back in the spring. But in the mean time, Ladies, I am watching the best looking men on TV. No soap operas for me! I am talking about quarter backs. You know who they are; they snap the football during the game. Usually make wonderful passes and for some reason, they always catch my attention. I would give you a list of who are my favorites but this column is not long enough for that. I am just happy they have Monday Night, Thursday Night and all day Sunday football games, just for me

But you know you have ladies at the lake that love what I call “round ball”. Their team is dressed in blue and white and they really get upset when they lose the game. You guessed it; they have the letters UK on their shirts, hats and everything else they can get it on. I have not checked any bodies under shorts but I bet they have a big blue UK on them also. But that is okay with me. We all have our favorite. A round ball just never appealed to me. I’ll take a good looking quarterback any time!

Well, who knows, I might get a “wild hair again” and send you a few lines by way of the fabulous News-Democrat, that is if they still remember me since I haven’t sent anything in two weeks. But will try any way.

So till next time, hug your Hubby and anybody else you would like to hug! They probably hadn’t had a hug lately.
