It’s almost time for school to start back up and both Russellville and Logan County high schools will soon be having their back-to-school open houses.

Russellville High School will be holding its open house for its middle school wing - which now includes students in grand 6-8 - on Tuesday, July 31 from 4-7 p.m.

Students will be able to pick up schedules, supply lists, meet teachers and have school pictures made. For those students unable to attend, there will be a makeup day for pictures in October.

The high school will have its open house on Thursday, Aug. 2 from 4-7 p.m.

Students will be able to pick schedules, visit teachers and classrooms but will NOT have school pictures made during this event. Pictures for students in grades 9-11 will be taken on August 22nd due to a scheduling issue with the company.

Logan County High School will hold its Freshman Orientation on Monday, July 30, 2012. All incoming 9th graders are encouraged to attend as this is an opportunity to meet teachers, find classes, and begin the year on a positive note.

Because of the large number of people in attendance, we will have two separate sessions. Students with last names beginning with the letters A through J may arrive at the school beginning at 5:15, with the opening session beginning at 5:30. Those with last names beginning with the letters K through Z may arrive at the school beginning at 6:15, with the opening session beginning at 6:30.

When arriving, freshmen will pick up their schedules at the concession stand in the main lobby and then proceed to the gymnasium. After a short opening session, students will meet with their homeroom teachers. Upon dismissal from homerooms, students will be able to take a self-guided tour of the school to locate their classes. In the commons area, there will be information on bus routes, lunch, and extracurricular activities. Additionally, freshmen will be able to purchase “Class of 2016” shirts for $10.

Freshmen who are unable to attend the orientation will be able to pick up their schedules on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 1 as will grades 10-12.
