Leslie Holloway, of Lewisburg, has opened a pet grooming business in Russellville, located at 587 East 4th Street.
Holloway is not a new comer to grooming by any means, in fact she has a lot of experience behind her belt already having worked for Dr. Bill Smith as his groomer for five years and then working for Aussie Pet Mobile, a traveling grooming business that served Bowling Green and Clarksville and Springfield, Tenn.
“I love animals and anything I can do for them I enjoy,” said Holloway, who is a local gal, having graduated from Logan County High School in 2006.
Holloway’s grooming business is called “Happy Hounds.” She is a certified groomer in phases one and two, which means she can and has groomed a lot of different breeds in her career.
“I enjoyed working for Dr. Smith and it was hard for me to leave, but I wanted to take the opportunity that Aussie provided and I got a lot of experience working with both,” said Holloway, who said she co-oped during her senior year in high school for Dr. Smith who got her started in grooming.
When Holloway worked for Dr. Smith, she was trained by another groomer and then was sent to study at the Nash Academy for Animal Arts in Lexington. where she became certified.
I have done it all it seems. I’ve even put dreadlocks in a dogs hair,” chuckles Holloway.
Happy Hounds also offers bathing, nail trimming, brushing, anal glands, cleaning ears, delivery service and boarding. Her prices are competitive and she also offers many deals that include a percentage off. She works with the Logan County Humane Society helping them by offering a free groom for adopted pets as well as helping out with a stray that may need a groom to better its chances of adoption.
Happy Hounds is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but Holloway says she will come in on Fridays and Saturdays if there is a need.
