City to repair several streets

The Russellville City Council voted last week to approved the bid of $158,000 from Scottys Contracting to begin repairing several of the city’s streets. Mayor Mark Stratton told his council the repairing can begin as early as this week.

“We have been fortunate enough to be able to work on all the streets that were on the immediate list,” said Stratton. “The council worked very hard on selecting the streets that needed immediate attention. I know there are other streets not listed that need repair and those will be addressed as money presents itself,” added the mayor.

The selected streets include:

West 2nd Street from the bridge to Southern States. They will cut back the edges, clean and sweep, apply tack coat, overlay with asphalt surface mix, paint the stop bar and maintain and control traffic.

Baker Street from North Main Street to the dead end. They will dig out failure and stabilize, mill edge key as needed, cut back edges, clean and sweep, apply track coat, level and wedge, overlay with asphalt surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Boisseau Lane from Hopkinsville Road to mark. They will cut back the edges, clean and sweep, apply tack coat, overlay with asphalt surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Industrial Drive Dip. They will mill edge key as needed, cut back the edges, clean and sweep, apply tack coat, overlay with asphalt surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Industrial Drive Intersection from Forest Park Drive to mark. They will mill edge key as needed, cut back the edges, clean and sweep, apply tack coat, overlay with asphalt surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Forest Park Drive failures by truck parking. They will saw cut pavement and dig out failures, install stone and asphalt base mix, stabilize and maintain and control traffic.

Forest Park Drive and Woodland Avenue failures in curve. They will saw cut pavement and dig out failures, install stone and asphalt base mix, stabilize and maintain and control traffic.

Woodland Avenue and Sportsman Club Drive widening. They will remove existing pipe extension and install 10’ of 24” CMP pipe, perform excavation as needed to widen pavement, install stone as needed for fill of shoulder, install asphalt base mix and surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Armory Drive from RR crossing to 1st Street. They will cut back the edges, clean and sweep, mill edge keys as needed, install two manholes and valve risers, apply tack coat, overlay with asphalt surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Bowling Street from Wets 9th Street to Russell Street. They will perform excavation as needed to widen, install stone and asphalt base in widening, cut back the edges, clean and sweep, mill edge keys as needed, apply tack coat, overlay with asphalt surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Norton Alley from Caldwell to Franklin. They will cut back the edges, clean and sweep, apply tack coat, overlay with asphalt surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Caldwell Street from 1st Street to 3rd Street. They will mill along curb, mill edges a needed, cut back the edges, clean and sweep, apply tack coat, overlay with asphalt surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Widening Lane from Bluegrass Avenue to mark. They will mill edges as needed, cut back edges, clean and sweep, apply tack coat, overlay with asphalt surface mix and maintain and control traffic.

Meadow Lane beside IMI. They will saw cut pavement and dig out failure, install stone, asphalt base and surface and maintain and control traffic.

“I was very pleased with the quote that we received from Scottys,” said mayor Stratton.

Another area the city will be focusing on soon is sidewalks. Stratton said the ones that pose a safety issue will be looked at first for repair.
