The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces the retirement of James E. Christian after 32 years with the agency.

Jimmy started working for the agency, known at that time as the Soil Conservation Service, in 1981 as a part-time employee and was promoted to full-time Soil Conservation Technician in 1983. He officially retired on Dec. 28, 2012.

Christian is a 1967 graduate of Lewisburg High School and served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971. Upon his return to Logan County, he began farming with his father and married Shelia Harris. They have three children, Christie Chick, Trevor and Nick Christian. They also have eight grandchildren.

In recognition of his service, a reception will be held in his honor Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the Logan County Extension Office complex between the hours of 1-4 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
