Logan County’s CharacterWorks had its first ever Character Event on Saturday on the Russellville town square.

Character traits such as integrity, determination, honor and respect were highlighted. Participants got prizes for attending sessions.

The main purpose of the Character Event was to help spread the word even more about the message the CharacterWorks group is trying to get out.

When school starts in the next few days, all the county and city schools will begin honoring students each month that exhibit that month’s particular character trait.

“Once we get those children identified, we’re going to put them in leadership positions so that they can show what it means to have these character traits,” said Lisa White, the Logan County CharacterWorks director. “Many of the schools already have character programs just like this, so this isn’t going to be anything new to them. We’re just bringing them all together.”
