Thanks to a $40,000 grant from the Carpenter Foundation, Russellville Independent Schools will be able to purchase at least three classroom sets of iPads, an Apple server to manage them and training for the teachers who will be using the equipment.
“It will put next generation technology into the hands of our students and allow teachers to utilize these tools to better engage students in learning,” said David Guffy, who applied for the grant with fellow Russellville Independent Schools Chief Technology Officer Danny Perry.
Perry praised Carpenter Foundation’s help.
“We are grateful to the Carpenter Foundation, Mr. Jim Guthrie and all the folks at Carpenter Company for making this opportunity available to the schools and the community,” he said.
Russellville Independent Superintendent Leon Smith also expressed gratitude to the Carpenter Foundation, while applauding “the efforts of David Guffy and Danny Perry in applying for this grant.”
“In tough economic times, outside resources are vital to help us continue to pursue instruction through various forms of technology,” he said.
