The Logan County Sheriff’s Department arrested an Adairville man for marijuana trafficking on Thursday, Dec. 6 while serving a warrant.

Sheriff Wallace Whittaker and Lt. Jeff Sanford were at the residence of 48-year-old Robbie E. Nichols on East Vine Street in Adairville Thursday afternoon to serve an arrest warrant.

When Nichols opened the door, Whittaker and Sanford smelled a strong odor of marijuana from inside the residence, accord to a police report.

Nichols was then read his Miranda rights and then gave officers consent to search his home, the report states.

After searching the residence, officers found four bags of what they suspected to be marijuana, totalling 2.2 ounces. The bags appeared to be packaged for resale, the report said. Also found on the scene was a digital scale and other items of drug paraphernalia.

Nichols was then arrested for the active warrant and also charged with trafficking in marijuana (less than eight ounces) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.

Whittaker and Sanford were assisted at the scene by agents Robbie Matthews and Sean Embry of the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force. The investigation is ongoing.
