Greetings from The Antioch Community.

Hope you had a safe and happy Fourth of July. Sure am thankful for our freedom and for all the men and women who have fought for our freedom.

Out service at Antioch on Sunday night was dismissed, so Karen (Key) Christian invited us to Pleasant Union Church as they were celebrating the Fourth. I went with Melba and Juanita over there. They had Gospel singing and good hamburgers and hot dogs with chips and cookies. Sure was good. I congratulated the gentleman who grilled them for they were the best. They started outside, but had to move in the church because of the rain. They didn’t get to have their fireworks, but will do them later. The pastor’s daughter sang the National Anthem and she sang it so beautiful. Thanks to Michael and Karen who graciously gave their lawn chairs for Juanita and I to sit in. Everything was so nice and I really enjoyed it.

My sister, Sue and James enjoyed the Kiddie Parade on Monday the 4th. Their great grandchildren were in it. Sue said it was really good.

James (my brother-in-law) has had the misfortune to fall. Skinned himself up pretty bad, but didn’t break any bones.

Elk Lick Baptist Church brought us the most delicious supper Friday night. What a wonderful ministry these people do with serving these meals. Thank you so much. I really do appreciate this and sure enjoy eating them. God bless you!

I talked to Louie Schmidt (my brother-in-law) in Branson, Mo., last week. He is doing pretty good.

Our good friend Marcie Patterson has returned home safe, as she went to Wisconsin to visit her friends and those she worked with while living up there. I think she went a little farther and saw her Uncle Earl. She had a good time seeing everyone.

Don’t forget the WMU meeting at Woodlawn Baptist Church on Tuesday night the 12th at 6 p.m. Bring a salad or dessert. The speaker will be Stacy, daughter of Susan Brown.

The Seniors will be going to Barkley Lodge on Friday, July 15th for our outing this month. The church bus is driven by Melba Gibbs and will leave the church at 10 a.m. Come and go with us. We always have a good time.

We had two nice ladies to join our TOPS Club last week. if you need to lose a few pounds, come and be with us. We meet in the Logan Memorial Hospital dining room from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The weigh in is from 8:30 to 9 and the lesson is from 9-10. We will make you feel welcome and help you any way we can.

Lord, we pray today for the peace of our nations. We ask for your intervention as we turn to you in confession and repentance. We praise you for your blessings and your provision.

Have a good week.
