Greetings from the Antioch community.

Our Vacation Bible School kick off was held Saturday evening, and everyone enjoyed playing games even though it was very hot. Michael and Harry grilled hamburgers and they sure were good. They also had hot dogs with chips and desert. We had 19 children and 20 adults.

Tammy Sears did the special Sunday morning at church.

Enjoyed listening to Chris Cooper on the Feedback program last week. Also always enjoy listening to the Social Security program on Tuesday.

Remember Dr. Larry Gotts will be on the Feedback program with Don next week. Be sure to tune in and hear the good Doctor answer the questions that are called in. The good thing is all the information is free.

Mark and Kay Thornberry will be going on a mission trip to South Dakota June 24-July 2. They are in need of money to purchase building and electrical materials to repair 2 homes and help out on expenses for the trip. Maybe you can’t give a big donation, but a small amount will be greatly appreciated.

The seniors will be going to the Barkley Lodge on July 15th. Start making plans to go with us. The bus driven by Melba Gibbs will depart the church at 10 a.m. We always have a good time and enjoy the good food.

If you are fortunate enough to have your father still living, be sure and remember him. This past Sunday was Father’s Day. My dad has been gone 31 years, but I still miss him. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers.

My grandson Eric, his son, Owen and daughter Kellie came to visit me Saturday. Sure was happy to have them. They were interviewing me about family history. I’m glad they are interested in doing this, because I often think of something that I want to ask my parents, but it’s too late, they are both gone to be with Jesus. Their plans are to write a book sometime.

Be careful if you are working out side and don’t get too hot.

Our cousin Sherry Harris came in Monday. Us cousins plan to have supper together at Shady Cliff restaurant.

The Farmer’s Love Letter

My sweet potato, do you carrot all for me?

You are the apple of my eye.

With your radish hair and turnip nose.

My heart beets for you.

My love for you is as strong as onions.

If we cantaloupe, lettuce marry.

And we will be a happy pear. (the late Iva Watson)

Have a good week.
