The Logan County Lady Cougars got a big win against the Ohio County Lady Eagles on Thursday. The Lady Cougars would have a slow start to the game, but have a big sixth inning to finish the game 14-9.
The Lady Eagles would have a strong start to the game and score one run in the first inning and add two more in the bottom of the third. The Lady Cougars would fall behind, but finally add two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Both teams would add three runs to their score in the fifth inning. The Lady Eagles would now lead 6-5 as the two teams started the sixth inning of the game.
Both teams were struggling defensively, so the game would be up to who get more runs and be smart offensively.
Sierra Morrow would start off the inning with an RBI single. Rachel Barnett would add two runs and Victoria Cates, Jordan Goss and Brea Croslin would all get RBI’s. Senior Madison Abbott would finish out the inning after hitting a two-run double. The Lady Cougars would now lead 14-6.
The Lady Eagles would score three more runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Lady Cougars would stop their offense to seal their 14-9 victory.
Rachel Barnett led the Lady Cougars with four RBI’s. Madison Abbott ended the game with three RBI’s and Cierra Johnson had two RBI’s. Cates, Morrow, Croslin and Goss would all end the game with one RBI each.
Victoria Cates would pitch for the Lady Cougars for seven innings. Cates would allow 12 hits, nine runs, four walks and strikeout five.
The Lady Cougars will travel to Todd County tonight to face the Lady Rebels. The game will start at 5:30 p.m.
