The Logan County High School girls’ basketball team won its fourth straight game on Friday night with an impressive 50-34 victory over visiting Todd County Central.
In addition to winning four in a row, the Lady Cougars have now won five of their last six games. Before this current streak, LCHS had lost its first eight games of the season.
Logan County was led in scoring by Maegann Hardison, who finished with nine points on 3-of-9 shooting. She also had a team-high four rebounds.
Laura Hunt and Kapreshia Powell each added eight points apiece for the Lady Cougars. Powell was 4-for-9 from the field and Hunt was 2-for-6 with a 3-pointer. Katelyn Jones added seven points on 3-of-7 shooting.
The win improved Logan County’s overall record to 5-9, but also solidified the Lady Cougars as the No. 2 team in District 13 with wins over Russellville and Todd Central. The Lady Cougars dropped their first district game of the year back on Dec. 13 against Franklin-Simpson. The Lady Wildcats are unbeaten in district play.
Logan County will be back in action tonight at Allen County-Scottsville before playing a district rematch with Todd Central on Friday night in Elkton.
The Russellville High School girls basketball team lost a tough game in Bowling Green over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Lady Panthers fell 54-22 at Warren Central. That makes their record just 1-10 on the year so far.
Russellville now has a pair of home games this week before beginning play in the Fourth Region All ‘A’ Classic next week. Russellville hosts Greenwood tonight and then welcomes district foe Franklin-Simpson to town on Friday night as part of a girl-boy district doubleheader.
