Hello again from the “Land of Logan” sometimes referred to, in history, as the “Independent State of Logan.” Several reasons are given for these names but the one I like best is that probably no other county with such a small population has produced so many outstanding leaders and played such a leading role in Kentucky politics. From major historical events to political bosses to helping carry statewide elections, Logan County has been there and played a significant role.
It looks like our own State Representative, Martha Jane King, is becoming one of the movers and shakers in the state house. One recent poll named her as one of the 10 most effective representatives in the state legislature. With her wit, personality and strong integrity she has gained much influence in the house. I heard she has the ear of the Governor as well. Great news for Logan County and a big thank you for Martha Jane King.
